CCCDA Names New Deputy Director

Picture
Robert Stahelin doesn’t particularly like hats even though he has worn several in his emergency services career that spans over three decades.
In late July, Calhoun County Consolidated Dispatch hired Stahelin as its new Deputy Director. Stahelin started at Calhoun County 911 on August 1.

Stahelin comes to CCCDA with broad experience in the public safety and emergency response community that spans over 30 years. Stahelin spent 28 years working in a communication center with more than half of that time in supervisory roles. In addition to the supervisor title, Stahelin has also served as systems administrator, communication training officer and has been involved in many industry evolutions.
Calhoun County 911 Executive Director Michael Armitage said that although Stahelin brings experience and was recognized in 2019 by Michigan APCO as Supervisor of the Year, his approach with employees sets him apart.
“Robert brings with him extensive knowledge of technical systems,” said Armitage. “He also brings an invaluable skill-set when it comes to personnel management and relationship building. He was exactly what Calhoun County 911 needed.”
Stahelin intends to help operations at Calhoun County 911 continue to grow and improve, recognizing the broad range of needs for the county’s emergency response agencies. He plans to first work with 911 staff and responders to build relationships.
“It is an honor and a privilege to have been chosen by Calhoun County 911 for such an integral role,” Stahelin said. “I am exceptionally excited about this opportunity.”
Stahelin and his supportive wife Tammy have two adult children. Daughter Adrianah attends Ferris State University and son Robert recently received his EMT certification and aspires to be a paramedic-firefighter. When not working, Robert enjoys sun and sand as well as spending time with family and friends.
“This center has good people,” said Stahelin. “I look forward to working with everyone here and working with our neighbors and agencies to see how we can move emergency services forward in the future.”
